CISF update

June 2007

Dear Friends,

As summer begins, we again say a huge thank you to each one of you who have supported CISF and so many men and women who are leading the global church today in places like Nigeria, India and Brazil. Today more than 125 alumni are training pastors, developing leaders and helping the church grow in maturity as literally thousands come to faith every day in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

This summer we celebrate the graduations of six more CISF scholars. Though the diplomas have only just been handed out, the impact of their work and leadership can already be seen. Yohanna Katanacho has been back in Nazareth and Bethlehem for several months, teaching and writing, and proclaiming love and peace in a region where it is so often lacking.

Last month, we shared about Sunday Agang who has returned to Nigeria as a foremost theologian and ethicist, and continues his work among widows and orphans in his state. We look forward to telling you more about their stories and ministries later this summer. T

his month we are excited to announce that a pair of committed CISF supporters have joined together to offer a $50,000 matching grant to help us finish this fiscal year strong. Their gift will match every donation made to CISF dollar for dollar between now and August 31. Our hope is that many of you will take this opportunity to maximize a gift to CISF. Many of you have shared about the excitement of being involved in this strategic work. Because of your support, these summer months have been vital for the support of the scholars. We ask that you again consider a gift to CISF.

We look forward to talking with you in the coming weeks as we push for a strong finish to this year – and press forward in this strategic work for years to come. Thank you for your interest – and investment – in Christian leaders for the Majority World. As has been the case historically, because of the generous commitment of the Board of Directors, whose gifts cover our overhead costs, one hundred percent of your gifts will go directly to the support of these gifted men and women.

Peace of Christ,

Bruce Baker
