Nelson Ng Makanda, Kenya

Focus of Studies: Nelson’s work is focused in issues of ethnicity and the implications of Acts 15 (Jerusalem Council) for ministry in Africa Today. As a source of significant tension and conflict in Africa, he believes a Biblical understanding of ethnicity is crucial for Christians on the continent.

About Nelson: Nelson has entered the dissertation phase of his program and is encouraged on many fronts. The time the cohort spent in Israel last year was especially refreshing and served to sharpen his writing on the book of Acts. Nelson serves with The Kenyan Christian Council and on the faculty at St. Andrews University.

Family: Nelson and his wife, Carol, have two children—Tracy and Andrew
